Tooth Replacement

Prosthodontics is a dental specialty pertaining to the treatment of complex dental conditions and the replacement of missing teeth. Dr. Matthew Yuen is highly trained in this branch of dentistry. They begin with comprehensive treatment planning, taking into account both your appearance and your oral and maxillofacial tissues. In this way, they can provide a beautifully lifelike restoration that will create optimal oral health and restore the aesthetics of your smile. They are also dedicated to patient education and will fully explain all treatment options in advance, helping you select the type of prosthodontics that is most suited to your health and cosmetic goals.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge can be an excellent solution if you have one or more missing or deficient teeth. These prosthetics are made of a false tooth or teeth called pontics, flanked by two crowns. The crowns are attached to the adjacent natural teeth, and the new tooth fits into the space left in the dental arch. Dr. Yuen will carefully design your prosthetic to ensure that it matches the color and shape of your other teeth. A bridge can help fill in your missing teeth spaces, give better esthetics, restore chewing surfaces so you can eat normally, and prevent the other teeth from shifting and moving. With the successful completion of your restorative care, it should feel just like your natural teeth so you can enjoy fully restored oral function and a renewed esthetic appearance.

Full and Partial Dentures

When you are missing multiple teeth, a denture may be a good solution. Traditional dentures are larger, removable restorations that can replace a full or partial arch of teeth. During your treatment planning, Dr. Yuen will take impressions of your gums, using them to design dental prosthetics that will be stable and comfortable in your mouth. Full dentures replace all your teeth and partial dentures have small metal clips that connect the prosthetic to the adjacent teeth. Furthermore, modern dentures are far more realistic and secure than you may have ever dreamed possible.  As with all of our prosthodontic treatment, our team will consider cosmetics, making sure that your denture matches your remaining teeth, as well as the color of your gum tissue. Our ultimate goal is allow you to chew and smile as naturally as possible without anyone, including you, noticing the dentures are there!

Dental Implants

Dental implants are the solution to many problems. Implants help restore missing teethThey can also help to ensure a healthy mouth and prevent additional clinical conditions, such as jawbone recession and further missing teeth. A dental implant is essentially a replacement tooth root. Dr. Yuen has advanced specialty training in dental implants and can perform your dental surgery himself. After surgical placement of one or more titanium implants, the bone tissue will heal around it, making the post a permanent fixture in your mouth. After your bone has healed and the implant fixture has integrated well, Dr. Yuen can attach a crown, bridge, or a denture to create beautiful replacement teeth. The implant should look and feel just like a normal tooth once the restoration is on it; implant-supported restorations are fixed in your mouth, and you care for them just like your natural teeth.
