At Castro Valley Dental Home, we strive to provide our patients with comfortable dental treatment that is efficient and easy to fit into hectic schedules. A lot of our state-of-the-art technology helps us to not only streamline procedures but also provide a better experience for our patients.

Take a look here at some of the modern technology you'll find at our Castro Valley dental office.

Digital X-Rays

Digital x-rays are an essential tool that Dr. Yuen uses to diagnose many oral health conditions like tooth decay and infections. They also offer a reliable baseline for monitoring your dental health, as we take a set of bitewing x-rays every year.

Our patients often ask us if dental x-rays are safe, and the answer is yes! Digital x-rays not only emit much less radiation (90 percent less) than standard films taken in the past, but they are also readily available for immediate viewing. This allows you to stay on top of any treatment concerns as soon as possible.

Nitrous Oxide

If you've ever felt nervous about visiting the dentist, you should know you're not alone. Millions of people have this same concern, and Dr. Yuen offers nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help our patients feel more relaxed during their dental procedures.

Nitrous is safe for both adults and children, and it doesn't interfere with driving or your normal activities after your appointment since it leaves your system quickly. Don't hesitate to talk with Dr. Yuen about your concerns and determine if you might benefit from using nitrous oxide.

Rotary Endodontics

Rotary endodontic tools have streamlined root canal treatment procedures, making them faster and more comfortable for our patients.

Because the hand tools are electric, we can complete your procedure more efficiently. And since they're made of flexible nickel-titanium, the inner canals of your tooth are easier to reach.

Most of our patients are shocked at how smooth and comfortable root canal treatment can be.

The Intraoral Camera

Imagine a tiny camera that could fit inside your mouth a photograph all of your teeth. This is precisely what our pen-sized intraoral camera does! Now you can understand exactly which treatment procedures you need and why when you can see full-color pictures of your teeth.

Panoramic X-Rays

A panoramic x-ray gives us a look at your jawbone, teeth, and jaw joint (TMJ) in one image. This is an x-ray that helps plan implant placement surgeries, or determine if orthodontic treatment may be recommended, or diagnosing problems with the TMJ.

Dr. Yuen will typically recommend that a panoramic x-ray be taken once every three to five years unless we need one for treatment planning.
